The first tournament of the season took them to Fort Collins, Colo. where they competed in the Ptarmigan/Ram Fall Classic. The Bulldogs shot a 292, the third time in the last five years at that tournament, during the opening round and it would hold as the lowest of the season until the final round of the year. The Bulldogs next traveled to the Rose City Collegiate in Aurora, Ore. where they placed sixth out of 15 teams. The 'Dogs claimed back-to- back third place finishes at their next two tournaments, the CU Heather Farr Memorial Invitational and Santa Clara Colby Invitational. Junior Louisa Lies (72-69-81--222, +6) came in third at the Heather Farr for her best finish of the season. Her 3-under, 141 during the first two rounds marked the second lowest score after 36-holes in program his- tory. Freshman Krysta Clark (77-77-71--225, +9) also claimed her best finish at that tournament by placing fourth, right behind Lies. SEASON IN REVIEW SPRING SEASON The spring season opened up to wet and windy conditions at the Peg Barnard Invitational hosted by Stanford. The Bulldogs took tenth place and returned to the Bay Area the next week to compete in the Juli Inkster Spartan Invite where they finished in 11th place. The 'Dogs returned home to host the Fresno State Lexus Classic at Copper River Country Club. Lies notched a top ten finish by tying for sixth and led the field with 12 total birdies. The 'Dogs placed tenth out of sixteen teams. Fresno State concluded the regular season with ninth place finishes at both the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational in Hawai'i and Pacific Coast Intercollegiate in Half Moon Bay, Calif. The Bulldogs entered the WAC Championship as the fifth seed but found themselves in last place going into the final day of competi- tion. During the final round, the Dogs shot a season-low 290 which also marked the third lowest round in program history. The low score catapulted them to a third place finish. Sophomore Shalyee Yano (75- 78-71--224, +11) recorded a career-best eighth place finish along with a career-low 71 during the final round. Freshman Christine Uhalde claimed a tournament-best 13 birdies. After the conclusion of the tour- nament, Lies was named second team all-WAC for the second straight year. "I'm excited about where the program is heading," head coach Anige Cates-Moore said. "We had a lot of newcomers that have stepped up. Every freshman has played at least some this year. You can't teach experience. Next year will be a very exciting year." 201-11 INDIVIDUAL STATISTICS NAME ...............TOURNAMENTS ...ROUNDS ...AVERAGE ...LOW ....PAR OR BETTER ...
