MARY ROBY TRAINING CENTER Arizona Gymnastics has been training in the remodeled Mary Roby Gymnastics Training Center for three seasons, and has been enjoying the new amenities of one of the top gymnastics facilities in the country. Some of the features included in the 10,000 sq. ft. facility are: • In-ground Palmer-Stratum spring floor exercise area with adja- cent in-ground rod tumbling strip into resi-pit and loose foam pit. • Three uneven bar stations, one equipped with official mats, one set over a resi-pit, and a single rail over a loose foam pit. • Six balance beams including a high beam over a raised platform. • AAI Tac-10/LZT Vault tables with vaulting both into resi-pit and loose foam pit with affitional trampoline training stations • In-ground 40' Tumbl-Trak (trampoline tumbling apparatus) into loose foam pit and floor landing • In-ground trampoline with Aussie string bed • Digital video motion analysis The facility was named to honor Mary Roby, Ph. D, one of the most influential people in Arizona's athletic history. Roby played a prominent and historic role in the development of women's athletics at the University of Arizona. Her leadership provided the primary force behind the transition form an intramural and club program to a nationally successful intercollegiate athletics program for women. Roby is a member of the Golden Key Honorary, Bobcats Honorary, the Mortar Board Hall of Fame, the University of Arizona Sports Hall of Fame and the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics Hall of Fame.
