ared Abbrederis' curiosity was sufficiently piqued to do a background check on someone that he has come to admire: Green Bay Packers wide receiver Jordy Nelson.
"I had some time so I read up on him a couple of weeks ago,'' said Abbre-
deris, a third-year sophomore on the Wisconsin football team. "I wanted to learn more about him.'' You can see why since there has been so much com- mon ground in their bios. Nelson played quarterback/defensive back for a small high school (Riley County) in Kansas. Abbrederis played quarterback/defensive back for a small high school (Wautoma) in Wisconsin. Nelson excelled in track and field, winning multiple state titles in the sprints
as a senior. Abbrederis excelled in track and field, winning multiple state titles in the hurdles as a senior.
Nelson began his college career as a walk-on at Kansas State. Abbrederis began his college career as a walk-on at Wisconsin -- and still is.
