131 "We are lucky we are going to have a break this week, which is our first weekend off in a long time and it couldn't come at a better time," said Libby. "ese girls are tired mentally and physically, but they keep coming at it, working, and pushing. ey will finally get a chance to rest their bodies and brains and we can go back and look at footage to find the details we need to cor- rect. "e great thing is that when people are making little mistakes, every- one else is stepping it up. If the first person is faltering, the next person comes in and makes up for it. So in the end, we are evening out. When they eventually don't make mistakes as we go, it could be pretty exciting." With respect to the rest of the postseason, the GymHawks have one focus — their success. "We are trying to savor a good performance," said Libby. "It has been a long time since we have had a team that could turn it on in postseason, so we are trying to relax and enjoy that moment. We never acknowledge who is there, how good or bad the other teams are, because everyone has good and bad days. Anyone is capable of beating anyone on any day. e only thing we can control is what we do, so we are going to continue to stay focused." T he University of Iowa women's gymnastics team opened the postseason with a bang. e GymHawks posted a season-high score of 196.500 at the Big Ten Championships, enough to collect a first-place finish in the morning session and fih in the overall team standings. e performance marked the team's best championship result since 2010 and the highest championship score since March 20, 2004. "We are on the edge of our full potential," said UI head coach Larissa Libby. "I think they have found a groove right now that they are comfort- able in. ey are secure in the gymnastics they are doing, so I think that helps them. "We made mistakes, and the good thing is that when they make mistakes, they don't panic. ey focus, they stay disciplined, and they are able to continue to move forward. ey haven't had their best meet yet, so to come to the conference cham- pionships and score a season high, we couldn't have asked for more." Despite the success at conference championships, the GymHawks are focused on work that needs to be done…and resting. APRIL SCHEDULE April 4 NCAA Regionals
