The four players with the top batting averages on last year's roster – Kate Dickman, Hannah Flippen, Anissa Urtez and Bridget Castro – all come back and will be exceptionally valuable to another winning season for the Utes. • Utah's infield returns all position starters from last season, including All-American second-team selection Hannah Flippen, who also picked up first team All-Pac-12 and All-Pacific Region honors. The Utes' infield led the nation in double plays turned last season, averaging 0.84 per game. • The mound is in good hands as Utah returns all three pitchers from last season and adds two freshmen. The Utes found a gem in then-freshman Sammy Cordova, who held the lowest ERA on the team (4.08) in the most appearances (38). • The outfield boasts senior Kate Dickman as one of its two returning starters along with Marissa Mendenhall. Dickman had 117 putouts from the outfield, while leading the team in batting average (.415), hits (80) and slugging percentage (.596).
