ATHLETIC ADMINISTRATION Bethany Bucholtz Assistant Athletics Director/Ticket Operations Bucholtz, a native of Camp Point, Ill., enters her second year overseeing Illinois State's ticketing operation, after serving as the Redbirds' assistant ticket manager from 2001-02. After working as the assistant at ISU, Bucholtz worked in a similar role at Iowa, before spending fi ve years as the assistant ticket manager at Illinois. With the Illini, Bucholtz worked consistently with the Paciolan Ticketing System, which Illinois State Athletics also uses. She also assisted in the supervision of the staff, while overseeing the game-day ticketing operations for volleyball, soccer, men's and women's gymnastics, baseball and men's tennis. She was also heavily involved in the ticketing for Illinois football and men's basketball games, including the 2005 Final Four and the 2008 Rose Bowl game. Bucholtz earned her bachelor's degree in 1999 from Illinois-Springfi eld, and acquired her master's degree in 2002 from Illinois State. She and her husband, Scott, reside in Normal, Ill. Peyton Deterding Assistant Athletics Director/Facilities & Operations Peyton Deterding begins his fi fth season at Illinois State, where he oversees the facilities and game operations for all athletic venues and contests. In doing so, Deterding has played a key role in the $3.1 million renovation of Duffy Bass Field as well as a $1.7 million relocation and renovation of the ISU Tennis Complex. Prior to joining ISU, the Denver, Iowa, native worked at Northern Illinois, where he served as the Huskies' event manager and football travel coordinator. As well, he spent time in game operations at Virginia and athletic ticketing at James Madison. A 1998 graduate of Northern Iowa, where he served as a men's basketball manager, Deterding completed his master's degree in exercise and sport science from Wisconsin-La Crosse in 2002. He and his wife, Nikki, reside in Bloomington, Ill., with 2-year-old twins, Jaece and Hailey. club membership. Prior to leaving for UNI, Lyons worked two years as the development associate for the Weisbecker Scholarship Fund (WSF), as a graduate assistant at Illinois State. At ISU, Lyons assisted in the day-to-day operations of the WSF and coordinated 2009-10 Redbird football and men's basketball membership benefi ts, including parking allocation, parking redistribution and hospitality room services. He also co-created the Young 'Birds program, a donor level group for young alumni from conception. In addition, Lyons worked a year and a half as an assistant director of development for the Tiger Scholarship Fund at Missouri. Lyons was responsible for oversight of all annual fund donor development, cultivation and solicitation south of Interstate 70 and major gift prospects at the $25,000 level and higher. He also had oversight of three donor clubs in Columbia, Mo., St. Louis, Mo., and Kansas City, Mo. Lyons earned his bachelor's degree from Illinois in recreation, sport and tourism with an emphasis in sports management in 2008. He garnered his master's degree in kinesiology and recreation at Illinois State in 2010. Lyons was born and raised in Bloomington/Normal and currently resides in Normal. 2011-12 Illinois State Basketball 193 Brad Ledford Assistant Athletics Director/Marketing & Promotions Brad Ledford enters his eighth season at Illinois State. With the Redbirds, Ledford spearheads the ISU marketing, promotions and sales efforts by developing and implementing the marketing and promotional plans, overseeing the sponsorship sales, managing advertising plans, and supervising the video production department, Redbird Productions Efforts of the athletics marketing department over recent years have assisted in increasing student attendance and involvement; increasing average attendance and setting individual game attendance highs for several sports; improving game atmosphere, presentation and video-board production; and expanding sales inventory. Prior to joining the ISU staff, Ledford worked two years as the marketing and promotions coordinator at Eastern Kentucky. Before becoming the coordinator, he also worked as an intern in the Colonels marketing offi ce, as well as with the Nashville Sounds professional baseball team. During his career, he has been an active member of the National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators (NACMA). His involvement has included: presenting several times at the NACMA National Convention on various collegiate marketing related topics; judging for yearly conference awards; serving as the Missouri Valley Conference NACMA representative since 2008; co-chairing the 2009-10 NACMA Conference Representative committee; and served on the 2011 NACMA Convention programming committee. Ledford earned both a bachelor's and master's degree in sports management from Eastern Kentucky. He resides in Normal, Ill and is engaged to Natalie Quinton of Normal, Ill. Matt Lyons Assistant Athletics Director/Development Matt Lyons returns to his roots at Illinois State, after spending the past year as the director of the Panther Scholarship Club (PSC). At UNI, Lyons was responsible for the day-to-day operations of the PSC, including coordinating fund raising and membership benefi ts, special events and increasing
