Averaged 21.5 points (shot 46.5 percent from the floor, 38.7 percent from three-point range and 82.4 percent from the free throw line) over the last 10 games • Started 36 games at small forward • Scored 15.7 points per game, second-high- est on the team (scored one point less than Tyler Zeller) and eighth in the ACC • Posted the fifth-highest scoring average ever by a UNC freshman • Led the team in three- pointers (67) and was second in free throw percentage (.750) • Led UNC with 497 field goal attempts (ties Joseph Forte in 2000 for the most ever by a UNC freshman) • Scored in double figures 30 times, including 17 of 19 ACC games, and 21 of the last 22 games • Scored 20 or more points eight times, all in the last 18 games • Shot 42.3 per- Jeffrey Camarati March 12, 2011 ACC Tournament Semifinal vs. Clemson Barnes Scores 40 vs. Tigers Barnes' 40-point game was ... • the seventh 40-point game in ACC Tournament history • tied the fifth-highest point total in ACC Tournament history • first 40-point game in the ACC Tour- nament since Wake Forest's Randolph Childress scored 40 against Duke in 1995 • first 40-point game by a Tar Heel since freshman Tyler Hansbrough had 40 against Georgia Tech on Feb. 15, 2006 • the 17th 40-point game in UNC history (Barnes is the ninth Tar Heel to score 40 in a game) • the fourth 40-point game by a Tar Heel in ACC Tournament history (Lennie Rosenbluth holds the single-game ACC Tournament record with 45 against Clem- son in the 1957 quarterfinal; Charles Scott had 40 against Duke in the 1969 cham- pionship game; and Scott had 41 against Virginia in the 1970 quarterfinal) • tied the all-time scoring record by any freshman in an ACC game, regular- season or Tournament (Hansbrough's 40 vs. Georgia Tech) • the 40 points were the most by any player in the ACC semifinals (previous 38 by Wake Forest's Len Chappell in 1962 and Maryland's Albert King in 1980) • made six three-pointers, tying the cent from the floor and 67 of 195 (.344) from three-point range • Was eighth in the ACC in field goal percentage and 10th in three-point- ers made per game • Hit multiple three-pointers 20 times with a high of six against Clemson and four against Hofstra, at Boston College, Miami and Washington • Hit go- ahead and/or game-winning shots in wins over Virginia Tech, Clem- son, Miami, at Clemson, at Florida State, Clemson in the ACC Tourna- ment and Washington • Averaged a UNC-best 16.7 points in Carolina's 29 wins and 11.9 points in the eight losses • Leading freshman scorer in the ACC • Topped Carolina in scor- ing in 11 of the last 17 ACC games • Made a three-pointer in each of the last 20 games.
