BADGERING...

Anthony Aicher - Men’s Golf

Junior Anthony Aicher of Wausau, Wis., is a two-time letterwinner and regular member of the travel squad for the Badgers. He was third on the team in scoring as a sophomore and led the team in the first tournament of the 2011 season. A finance major, he earned Academic All-Big Ten honors in 2011.

You were the scoring leader in your first tournament of the year. What are you individual goals this season?
My individual goals this year, as cliché as it sounds, is to get better every day and every tournament. My first two years here I was putting too much emphasis on each shot and tournament instead of simply trying to get better.

Did you play any other sports growing up?
I did. I played football, hockey, and soccer. Soccer was probably my favorite growing up. I played on a good team and we had a lot of fun together.

What is your favorite golf memory?
My favorite memory in golf is the state tournament my senior year.  It was the only year my team made it to state.  We had a lot of fun and didn’t take ourselves too seriously, which is one of the reasons I think I played well enough to win it individually.

What has been your favorite warm-weather trip and why?
Each of the spring break trips we took my first two years were a blast.  We went to awesome facilities and crammed about as much golf in as possible.  They are memories I will always have.

In 20 years, what would you like to be doing?
I’m not sure what I would like to be doing in 20 years.  That is literally another lifetime away.  But hopefully the next 20 years will go as well as the first 20 years.

What are your career pursuits?
My major is personal finance, but I am currently applying to the business school.  One of my uncle’s runs a company and my father is part owner of another company, so after seeing a little bit of what is involved with that, I think it would be very fulfilling to manage a company.
