College football fans may be focused on the upcoming date with Nebraska, but UW’s defense won’t get caught looking ahead

There’s plenty of evidence to suggest that Wisconsin has a good defense.

The Badgers have held each of their first three opponents under 300 yards of total offense, while only Alabama and Central Florida have allowed fewer points through three games.

But how good are they?

“We still recognize that we have got a high ceiling,’’ said co-defensive coordinator Charlie Partridge. “We’re happy that we did make improvements from week one to two and week two to three.

“And there’s some validation that if the young men buy into what we’re working — the system we have in place and what they’re being coached — we can have success.

“But there are certainly enough examples on film that we’ve still got much improvement to make. If we can do that then we have a chance to be pretty
