THIS WEEK IN BADGER HISTORY Head coach Dave McClain led the 1981 team to its first bowl game since 1963. September 12, 1981 Looking out for No. 1 The unranked Badgers opened the 1981 season with a stunning 21-14 win over No. 1- ranked Michigan. It was Wisconsin's first win over a No.1-ranked oppenent since Nov. 10, 1962, when it defeated top-ranked Northwestern 37-6 on homecoming at Camp Randall Stadium. ALSO THIS WEEK September 16, 1981 GOING 1-0: The women's soccer team defeated Beloit College 18-0 to record the most goals scored by a team in a single game. The win also marked the Badgers' first varsity win as a program. September 17, 1994 GOLDEN FOOT: Jeff Gold, of the men's soccer team, put together a record perfor- mance in the Badgers' 5-4 overtime win over Tulsa. Gold marked nine shots in the game, tying for second on the individual scoring record list for most shots in a single game.
