t h i s i s b u s o c c e r COMMUNITY ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT Besides achieving success on the field, BU men's soccer has also performed well in the classroom with two Terriers earning Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All-America honors the past three seasons. In 2010, 11 student-athletes were named to the America East Honor Roll, and four of them earned Commissioner's Honor Roll status for posting a GPA of 3.5 or greater. MICHAEL BUSTAMANTE 2011 Preseason All-American The Terriers pride themselves in being valuable contributors to society. Besides hosting clinics and connecting with children after home games, the team also participates in the BU Athletic Department's holiday reading program. NEIL ROBERTS Entering his 27th season as the head coach of the BU men's soccer team, Neil Roberts first joined the program as an assistant in 1979. Since he was promoted in 1985, the Terriers have registered only one losing season. A five-time NSCAA PLAYER DEVELOPMENT Head coach Neil Roberts believes in a pro-style philosophy with an emphasis on individual decision-making and playmaking ability. Since 2006, the Terriers have earned seven major year-end America East awards and 10 all-region honors. Six men have reached the professional ranks, highlighted by Samuel Appiah ('10) being drafted by the Houston Dynamo (MLS). New England Coach of the Year and six- time America East Coach of the Year, he currently ranks 10th amongst active coaches in victories and 33rd all-time with coaches who have at least 10 years of Division I experience. BU's seniors accept the 2010 America East Regular Season Championship trophy. Since making its first of 14 NCAA tournament appearances in 1980, the BU men's soccer team has developed a strong winning tradition. Having won at least 10 games in 18 of Coach Roberts' 26 seasons, the Terriers are 10-time America East regular season champions and victors of seven WINNING TRADITION conference tournaments.
