Arizona had trouble closing out games with 14 contests being decided by 10 points or less, including nine Pac-12 decisions. Finding a go-to player was also a struggle as seven different players led the team in scoring in at least one game. • One of the key reasons UA struggled was the loss of redshirt senior Alli Gloyd, who was one of just two play- ers in 2012-13 to start every game. • Butts, however, has a lot of the pieces in place to begin a turnaround. She welcomes back the team's leading scorer in redshirt senior guard Candice Warthen. Warthen was coming off a redshirt season last year and led the team in scoring and steals. With the return of Gloyd, and sophomore forwards Breanna Workman and LaBrittney Jones. All three were etched into the starting lineup last season. • Workman and Jones were called upon to take on the post-play duties in their freshmen campaigns, combin- ing to average nearly 10.0 rebounds per game. With a year of Division I collegiate experience, they should be able to build upon that experience in 2014-15. • Arizona also has a highly-touted recruit joining the squad for the upcoming season. An ESPN top-100-rated player in Taryn Griffey, also the No. 21 guard in the country last year. She is an explosive player who has the ability to give defenders problems with her athleticism and should make an immediate impact to UA squad looking to make major improvements.
