51 course. He has seen men running in packs and training "appropriately" hard. He's waiting for the women, however, to replicate their training numbers on the competition course. e women are without an experienced leader — redshirt freshman Courtney Bruns, sophomore Katie Adams, and junior Jocelyn Todd have paced the Hawkeyes in three races this season — but Anderson said he sees progress and is encouraged by their weekly approach. "We have put together workouts that are superior to what I have witnessed in the race," he said. "I think the girls see that, they understand it, and more importantly they believe it. ey're realizing right now that we're building a bridge. UI head coach Layne Anderson said that is a result of two things. e first is pack running, the second is Kevin Lewis. "We're seeing some strong pack running in our training," said Anderson, "but Kevin is starting to break away from the group he's been with. He's sensing it's time to assert himself." Anderson said the men have been true to form when moving from the training to the competition Junior Jocelyn Todd, sophomore Samantha Zishka, junior Courtney Martin, and sophomore Tess Wilberding compete at the Big Ten Preview on Sept. 20, in Iowa City, Iowa.
