2 From the Desk of Amanda Braun It is hard to believe another summer has come and gone and that the basketball season is right around the corner. Our fall sports programs have all gotten off to strong starts despite competing against some of the nation's top teams and the men's soccer, women's soccer and women's volleyball squads all look to defend their Horizon League Championship titles. The summer was an eventful one for University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Athletics. In addition to earning the Horizon League's McCafferty Trophy, which is awarded to the conference's all- sports champion, for the seventh time in the last 14 years, we also have entered into a new era by securing naming rights for the UWM Panther Arena, formerly known as U.S. Cellular Arena. Last month, we shared the excitement of Milwaukee producing its first National Football League player in nearly 30 years as former men's basketball starter Demetrius Harris made the Kansas City Chiefs' initial 53-man roster and caught his first NFL pass in Week 2. We look forward to the exposure that both the men's basketball program and University will receive during the 2014-15 season as a grand total of six games will be broadcast live on national television. Included in that package are home games versus Wisconsin (Dec. 10 on ESPN2) and Horizon League foe Green Bay (Jan. 9 on ESPNU). I encourage you to look into becoming a season ticket holder for Milwaukee Basketball this season and catch all of the action at the lowest prices in town. I hope to see you at a Panther sporting event this season.
