Ramos won the Big Ten Conference championship March 9 and the NCAA championship March 22. 23 e University of Iowa men's basketball team played in an NCAA Tournament for a 23rd time in 2014, its first trip since 2006. 0.67 Hawkeye soball ranks third nationally and leads the Big Ten Confernence with 0.67 double plays per game. 18 Senior Derek St. John became the 18th four-time wrestling All-American at the University of Iowa on March 22 in Oklahoma City. St. John finished fih this season at 157 pounds. 4 Senior Dustin Rhoads qualified for the 2014 NCAA Championships in the 100 and 200-yard backstroke events. It is the fourth-straight year for the Hawkeye men's swimming program to be represented on the biggest stage in college swimming. 10 Sophomore right-handed pitcher Tyler Peyton struck out 10 batters in 5 2/3 innings against Saint Joseph's on March 16 in Port Charlotte, Fla. Peyton is the first Hawk- eye to strikeout at least 10 batters in a game since 2008. 700 UI head baseball coach Rick Heller tallied the 700th victory of his 26-year coaching career in Iowa's 13-1 victory over Georgetown on March 15. 27 e Hawkeye women's hoops program tied the second-highest win total in program history this season at 27-9. 1- of -7 e University of Iowa is one of seven schools in the country to appear in a Jan. 1 bowl game and both men's and wom- en's basketball tournaments in 2014.
