No. 2 Badgers wrap up
regular season in Mankato
UW and Minnesota State meet for first time since Oct.
BY AJ HARRISON @BADGERWHOCKEY
T
he No. 2 Badgers will
wrap up their regular
season the same way
they started it: with a series
against Minnesota State.
After sweeping the Maver-
icks in Madison on Oct. 4-5,
the Badgers make the return
trip to Mankato, Minn., to take
on a streaking MSU team that
is coming off of a sweep of
then-No. 4 North Dakota.
"We haven't seen them
in a while," UW head coach
Mark Johnson said. "They are
healthy now, and are coming
off of a big weekend. It will be
senior weekend for them so
there will be a lot of emotions
tied to it. They have a large se-
nior class that leads the way
and they are experienced. It
will be a good challenge for us
after last weekend."
After not playing the Mavericks for five
months, there's a good possibility that
the Badgers will face the Mavericks next
weekend in LaBahn Arena in the first
round of the WCHA playoffs. Wisconsin
has locked up the No. 2 seed in the play-
offs, and with a UW win this weekend,
MSU will be the No. 7 seed and the two
will meet again next weekend.
Although UW has a 58-1-3 all-time
record against Minnesota State, the Bad-
gers know that the Mavericks are a team
they can't overlook.
"They have a good power play," senior
Madison Packer said. "They have a cou-
ple of offensive threats on the ice that we
need to be aware of. "
