92 and counting: Rigsby
sets Wisconsin wins record
Rigsby breaks Jessie Vetter's mark for career victories
ith her 92nd career
win on Saturday, senior goaltender Alex
Rigsby became the school's
winningest goaltender in program history, passing twotime Olympian Jessie Vetter on
the all-time list.
Many discuss Rigsby and
Vetter in the same sentence,
as both are Wisconsin natives, sport curly hair and both

played against boys during
their high school days.
This year, Rigsby has been
passing Vetter in the school record book, as Rigsby is now the
school leader in wins, minutes
player and saves. The wins record is something that Rigsby
is proud of, but she is thankful
for her teammates helping her
achieve the mark.
"I think it's quite an honor

but it's also definitely a team achievement," Rigsby said. "I've been lucky
enough to play on a team as great as this
one throughout my career here as a Badger. But it means quite a bit, though, to
pass Vetter."
UW head coach Mark Johnson has
been impressed with Rigsby's play over
the years.
"Rigsby has been consistent, and when
players have good habits and are able to
do things for a long period of time, these
are the things that fall into place," Johnson said. "I didn't think anyone was going
to touch Jessie just because of the record
that she had and the way she performed
over a long period of time, but hats off to
Alex for getting an opportunity, preparing herself, and making the most of it."
