Jeff Sauer guided the Badgers
to a pair of NCAA championships during his 20 years on
the bench at Wisconsin.
THE END OF AN ERA
JANUARY 9, 2002: Jeff Sauer announced he was retiring as the head coach of the men's
hockey team after 20 years behind the UW bench and 31 years as a head coach in the WCHA.
Sauer recorded four 30-win seasons, coaching the Badgers to a pair of national titles during
his reign.

THE BEGINNING
JANUARY 11, 1975: The first varsity women's basketball home game is played,
a 45-38 win over Green Bay. The team went 11-7, and 6-2 at home, in its first year
of intercollegiate competition under coach Marilyn Harris.
CAN'T MISS KLAPPERICH
JANUARY 9, 1996: Ann Klapperich of the women's basketball team set the
school record for field goal percentage by hitting 12 of 13 shots vs. Marquette for
an incredible 92.3%.
MAKING THE MOVE
JANUARY 14, 1998: The men's basketball team defeated Penn State, 76-57, in
the final basketball game at the UW Field House.
