Regional, where they will face Florida State in the semifinals on Friday at 4 p.m. If it wins, UW will face the winner of the Illinois/Purdue match in the regional final on Saturday at 5 p.m. CARLINI, CHAPMAN HONORED ● The awards keep piling up for the Badgers. Freshman Lauren Carlini and junior Ellen Chapman were named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association Northeast All-Region team with Carlini also being named the region's freshman of the year. They are the first Badgers named to the all-region team since 2007. Carlini is the first UW player named regional freshman of the year since the award was begun in 1999. BIG TEN DOMINATES ● There has been much talk all season long as to which conference is the best in volleyball. That question might have been answered after the first and second rounds of play, as the Big Ten dominates the remaining field of 16 with seven teams still in action. The Big Ten set an NCAA volleyball record for the most teams remaining from a single conference in the Sweet 16. Eight teams made the tournament, with only Michigan losing in the first round. The Pac-12 qualified nine teams to the championship but only three remain, while the SEC also qualified eight teams with none left.
