UA's international students Sophomore Natalie Mallinak designed and made this 17-foot long quilt to represent UA's international students. The quilt, which is six feet tall, is made of the 47 flags (11" by 18" each) that represent the homelands of at least two current international UA students. In all, UA students come from 95 countries, an unwieldy number for a quilt, says Natalie a fashion merchandising major. The quilt, which was made at the request of the Graduate Student Council and the Department of Student Services, will be installed in the Student Union in early spring. Your gift to The University of Akron's Buchtel College of Arts and Sciences makes a profound difference. Financial support of our current and emerging academic priorities is vital as we strive for deeper relevance, broader connections and greater productivity. Through the study of the arts and sciences, our students learn to be critical thinkers, effective collaborators and powerful communicators. They take these skills, as well as The University of Akron name, around the globe as they emerge as valuable citizens of our world. The Buchtel College of Arts and Sciences wishes to express our sincere thanks to the many corporate, organizational and individual donors who so generously support our efforts throughout the year.
