DECEMBER 10, 2004: The volleyball team upset previously undefeated Hawaii in five games
at the 2004 NCAA Regional semifinal in Green Bay. With the win over the No. 2-ranked team
in the country, the Badgers advanced to the Elite Eight.

DECEMBER 9, 1954: Alan Ameche was presented the Heisman Trophy as the
nation's finest college football player, becoming the first player in Wisconsin
history to win the award.

DECEMBER 11, 1999: Ron Dayne was awarded the 65th Heisman Trophy at the
Downtown Athletic Club in New York City. Dayne finished with 586 first-place
votes and 2,042 points, becoming only the second player in Wisconsin history to
win the award.
TACKLING THOMAS
DECEMBER 7, 2006: Offensive tackle Joe Thomas became Wisconsin's first winner
of the Outland Trophy as the nation's top interior lineman.
THREE OF A KIND
DECEMBER 9, 2010: Gabe Carimi won the Outland Trophy, given to the nation's
top interior lineman. It was one of three major awards won by UW football players for the 2010 season as Scott Tolzien won the Unitas Golden Arm Award and J.J.
Watt took home the Lott IMPACT Trophy.
