Intrasquad scrimmage
begins big year for UW
Wisconsin poised for a season to remember
he weather is cooling off
outside of Kellner Hall,
but things are heating
up inside as the Badgers start
their season. Fans will get a
first glimpse at the Wisconsin
wrestling squad Friday, and
they should like what they see.
UW has five wrestlers in the
InterMat preseason rankings
and all five will be competing
on Friday.
Senior Tyler Graff is ranked
No. 2 at 133 lbs. Last season,
Graff earned his third AllAmerica honor.
"I'm very excited about Tyler Graff this year," said UW

Redshirt freshman Jesse
Thielke is the only freshman
to earn a ranking at 141 lbs.,
making his debut at No. 10.
Thielke's addition to the
Badgers' lineup has been much
anticipated. "He's a kid that
can wrestle basically all styles,"
said Davis. "He's fun to watch,
great personality. And he's
good for our team. Great leadership in and out of the room."
Redshirt freshman Isaac
Jordan earned a No. 7 ranking
at 157 lbs. after posting an impressive 23-2 record in open

Senior Jackson Hein, an NCAA qualifier at 197 lbs. a year ago, starts the season with a No. 13 ranking at 184 lbs. This
season will be Hein's first at the lower
weight.
It is a move that Davis is excited about.
"I think it's a great move for Jackson.
(He) looks really good. (He's) a lot bigger
at 84 than 97."
Reigning Big Ten Freshman of the Year
Connor Medbery starts the season with
a No. 6 ranking at heavyweight. Medbery
qualified for the NCAA championship
last season, finishing the year with a No.
10 ranking.
For the Badgers, Friday is poised to be
the start of something big.
