Playing a challenging non-conference schedule, WSU picked up big wins over BYU, Gonzaga and Ohio State. It was their first-ever win over the Buckeyes and the first win over the Zags in five tries, the last one coming back in 2001. Inconsistency led to struggles in Conference play, but key players emerged that can lead the Cougars in 2013-14. • Washington State was one of the relatively young and inexperienced teams in the Pac-12 and will only have two seniors on the roster in 13-14; however, with 11 letterwinners returning, including three starters in JR G Tia Presley, SO G Lia Galdeira and SR G/F Sage Romberg. Despite the lack upperclassmen, the future looks bright for a squad where many players are gaining valuable experience early in their careers. • Galdeira had one of the best years for a freshman in program history, setting single-season record for scoring (14.8 ppg), points (459), double-digit scoring efforts (28), field goals made (174), free throw percentage (76.9), and finished with the second-most steals all-time for a freshman. She was selected for three Pac-12 postseason honors, earning nods as an All-Pac-12 Conference honorable mention, all-Defensive Team honorable mention and on the all-Freshman Team. Spent 12 seasons at Washington where she posted nearly 200 victories and led the Huskies to six NCAA Tournament appearances ... has coached 17 all-conference performers in her career and one Pac-10 Player of the Year.
