Off weeks sandwich challenging schedule
he Badgers returned
empty-handed
from
their road trip to Boston last weekend, where they
faced No. 6/7 Boston College
and No. 15 Boston University
on their own turf.
That kind of quality of opponent continues on the UW
schedule for the next three series as six more games against
ranked foes await. Between
each series, Wisconsin will
boast a week off in a unique

scheduling scenario.
It serves the Badgers well
right now, giving the team two
weeks of practice to work on
what went wrong in Boston.
Upstart Lake Superior State,
which is now ranked in the top
15 after a 4-0-0 start marks
the only two home games in
the current eight-game stretch
against ranked opponents.
Those come Nov. 1-2 at Kohl
Center.
Trips to No. 3 Miami and
No. 1 Minnesota follow, with the Badgers
taking a bye week prior to each of those
series. It somewhat sets up a preseason
for the Badgers, except that the games
are all-important in the team's hopes of
returning to the NCAA tournament for
a second-consecutive season. Games in
October and November count the same
as games in February and March.
The NCAA has instituted new criteria
with regard to NCAA tournament selection that gives greater weight to road
games and quality wins.
The Badgers have chances to take advantage of both those changes in upcoming weeks. Wisconsin played a much improved game against Boston University
from the way it played at Boston College,
despite the lopsided scores. They will
look to flip the scoreboard in their next
action.
