That kind of quality of opponent continues on the UW schedule for the next three series as six more games against ranked foes await. Between each series, Wisconsin will boast a week off in a unique T 56 // VARSITY October 24, 2013 scheduling scenario. It serves the Badgers well right now, giving the team two weeks of practice to work on what went wrong in Boston. Upstart Lake Superior State, which is now ranked in the top 15 after a 4-0-0 start marks the only two home games in the current eight-game stretch against ranked opponents. Those come Nov. 1-2 at Kohl Center. Trips to No. 3 Miami and No. 1 Minnesota follow, with the Badgers taking a bye week prior to each of those series. It somewhat sets up a preseason for the Badgers, except that the games are all-important in the team's hopes of returning to the NCAA tournament for a second-consecutive season. Games in October and November count the same as games in February and March. The NCAA has instituted new criteria with regard to NCAA tournament selection that gives greater weight to road games and quality wins. The Badgers have chances to take advantage of both those changes in upcoming weeks. Wisconsin played a much improved game against Boston University from the way it played at Boston College, despite the lopsided scores. They will look to flip the scoreboard in their next action.
