a letter from: M y family and I moved to Richmond a year ago so we could become part of the VCU Athletics family, and I can't believe that a year has passed already. Time really does fly by when you are having fun. The last year has been an incredible experience, one that brought successes on the field, in the classroom and throughout the community. From conference championships and NCAA Tournament appearances to a slew of academic awards, I loved watching the VCU Rams excel. A tremendous amount of pride fills these hallways when VCU coaches and student-athletes rise to a level of excellence, and we've felt that pride often in the last 12 months. The taste of success makes us hungry for more. The summers in the business of college athletics are a brief respite, but by the time August arrives, we're ready to get down to business. We have so much to look forward to this fall, and I know our student-athletes and coaches worked hard all summer to prepare for the action. The next chapter at VCU is being written as we speak by the remarkable individuals of VCU Athletics, some of whom you'll get to know inside this edition of The Ram Report. You will meet men's soccer senior goalkeeper Andrew Wells, who proves that nice guys can finish first. And how about field hockey's Nicole Barry, a junior defender whose career goals are nothing short of making the world a better, safer place. You'll also meet Lindsey Vanderspiegel, whose meteoric rise through the coaching ranks has brought her to VCU to guide our women's soccer program. These people and other Rams will carry the banner for VCU this fall, and they will be exciting to watch. We're ready for another amazing year of VCU Athletics. Come along, and enjoy the ride.
