The first Border Battle
competition in any sport this
season, the matchup pits the
back-to-back NCAA champion
and No. 1 team in the nation,
Minnesota, against four-time
national champion and No.
4-ranked Wisconsin. Additionally, Minnesota enters the
weekend with a NCAA record
51-game winning streak, a record that UW held prior to last
6 p.m.
4 p.m.
season.
Wisconsin head coach Mark Johnson
is looking forward to the test.
"They've won 51 straight games,
which is very, very impressive, especially
in this environment," Johnson said. "It
will be a challenge, but I like it early in
the season. I like the opportunity to see
how my young players and how we as
a team respond to this type of environment that we'll be going into."
For the Wisconsin freshmen, this
weekend will mark their first games
away from the friendly confines of LaBahn Arena. Last season, Minnesota
averaged an NCAA-best 1,878 fans per
game,
"What I've seen to this point, I'm excited because they've stepped in, they've
eaten up some minutes, they've conducted themselves in a real positive way,"
Johnson said. "They've made a contribution. Now the opportunity for us as a
team to see how they react in a hostile
environment."
