ASK THE BADGERS
QUESTION OF THE WEEK:
What is a unique training drill you do
to prepare for your sport?
MATT CAVALLARIS // JUNIOR // WRESTLING
"One of the exercises we do is running the Camp Randall
Stadium stairs while carrying a 45-pound plate. We also
do 'buddy carries' on the turf inside the McClain Center
where we basically piggy-back carry a teammate the
length of the football field. Those are brutal."
ALEX RIGSBY // SENIOR // WOMEN'S HOCKEY
"Before every game I have a tennis ball in hand. After we
do our team off-ice warm up, I toss the ball as fast as I can
against the wall to get my hand eye coordination going."
STEPHANIE PEACE // SENIOR // SOFTBALL
"I chop down trees in my parents' back yard in
New Braunfels, Texas, to help build power in my
swing. They use the wood for bonfires and fires in
the winter, but mostly I chop it to clear the land. "
TRAEVON JACKSON // JUNIOR // MEN'S BASKETBALL
"I'll work on ball handling while somebody stands behind me holding
a resistance band wrapped around my waist. So you're working on
keeping control of the ball while someone is pulling on you from behind. I also do a drill where I dribble full speed through cones while
a manager periodically throws tennis balls at me. I have to catch the
tennis ball and throw it back while keeping the dribble alive."
