Academic Awards Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All-America National Scholar Athletes Academic All-Americans are nominated by their sports information director and must be a starter or important reserve with legitimate athletic credentials and at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average. That ties UW with Georgia and Bucknell for the second-longest streak in the nation, trailing only Nebraska's run of 42 straight seasons with an Academic All-American. Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All-District Before a student-athlete can be named an Academic All-American, they must be first named to the alldistrict team. Jared Berggren, Men's Basketball Kimberly Dinh, Women's Golf Elliot Krause, Men's Track & Field Mariel Massei, Softball Kendall Schmidt, Women's Rowing Michael Trotter, Football NCAA Elite 89 Award The Elite 89, an award founded by the NCAA, recognizes the true essence of the student-athlete by honoring the individual who has reached the pinnacle of competition at the national championship level in his or her sport, while also achieving the highest academic standard among his or her peers. The Elite 89 is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average participating at the finals site for each of the NCAA's 89 championships. Arthur Ashe Male Sports Scholar of the Year Ryan Evans, Men's Basketball Big Ten Postgraduate Scholarship The Big Ten Postgraduate Scholarship program began in 2012-13 and provides a $7,500 scholarship for one male and one female student-athlete from each Big Ten institution who plan to continue their education in a graduate-degree program.
