The scoreboard includes a new video board, full color ribbon, and static scoreboard equipped to display a wide variety of statistics, information, graphics, animation, and live and recorded video. The new structure was made possible by IMG, Furman's athletics marketing rights holder, and by gifts from former players and supporters. The video board measures 13 feet high by 32 feet wide, and the ribbon board is 4 feet by 32 feet. The new light emitting diode (LED) static scoreboard is 8 feet by 32 feet. Capturion Network, based in Laurel, Miss., was the manufacturer. The Citadel (No. 9)..............................................30-17 BOB KING FOOTBALL PRACTICE FIELDS F urman football is supported by outstanding facilities, including two NFL caliber practice fields located in the heart of the university's athletics complex. In fact, it was the school's association with the Atlanta Falcons that led to the complete renovation of the Paladins' football practice facility in 2003. The Falcons, who trained at Furman from 2000-04, teamed up with the Furman Football Players Association to complete the $250,000 project and provide the school with two fully irrigated Bermuda surface, NFL quality fields boasting impressive fullness and consistency. "Our practice fields are superb — as good as any in college Furman 50 Paladins football anywhere — and reflect a commitment to our football program that everyone from our current players and recruits can see and appreciate," said head coach Bruce Fowler. Furman's football practice fields are named for the late Bob King, the school's first All-Southern Conference athlete and 1937 graduate who returned to his alma to direct Paladin football from 1958 until his retirement in 1972.
