In addition to offering a suite of "green" checking accounts and services, Alpine Bank launched a group of green-lending programs in 2009. Home Equity Loan or Line of Credit: Use the equity in your home to generate your own clean and renewable energy or use it to make cost-saving energy improvements. For energy-reduction home improvements, we'll give you a rate discount on your home equity loan or line of credit. Watch your monthly utility bills shrink by installing: Solar electric or solar thermal energy systems • Geothermal heat exchange systems ENERGYSTAR® home appliances • Xeriscape landscaping You may also be able to take advantage of utility rebates and government tax credits. Gas Efficient and Hybrid Automobile Loans: Make your drive time greener by purchasing a more fuel-efficient vehicle. Choose an automobile that is EPA rated with a minimum of 40 EPA MPG (hwy) and we'll take 1/2 percent off your loan interest rate when you qualify for a loan. Business: We offer a variety of rate-discounted "green" loans for fuel-efficient business vehicles and real-estate secured loans. Please contact your local Alpine Bank to learn more about "green" loans for your business needs. (All loans are subject to approval.) Green Investing: Alpine Bank is partnering with some of our local municipalities on community-based energy-efficiency solar projects and clean-energy collective-investment opportunities. On April 23rd thru 25th, elementary and middle school students from Parachute to Carbondale participated in the Garfield Clean Energy (GCE) Bike and Walk to School Challenge. More than 167 classes and 5,575 students got involved and were given points based on their rate of participation for walking, biking, carpooling and riding buses to and from school as well as for signing a commitment to use alternate transportation throughout the remainder of the school year and summer - some kids even rode horses to school! Over the 3-day challenge, students cumulatively saved 21,098 pounds of carbon dioxide, $37,574 in vehicle costs such as fuel and wear and tear, and burned 232,603 calories. Alpine Bank gladly provided $2,250 in cash prizes for the four winning schools and $1,200 in VISA gift cards for the top three finishing classes in each of the 12 participating schools. 9 www.alpinebank.com
