In 2010 we selected a group of six underperforming locations for re-commissioning and evaluation prior to creating an improvement plan. These six locations and their final 6-year energy reduction numbers are as follows in order of highest reduction in energy use to lowest: Breckenridge, 63%; Gypsum, 42%; Rifle, 40%; East Montrose, 13%; Frisco, 2%; and Steamboat Springs which remained flat. Only one of these locations required a major upgrade of equipment while the rest received just minimal parts upgrades and improved management of the controls. In 2011 we selected a new group of six underperforming locations. We followed the procedures established in 2010 and re-commissioned the equipment first, then evaluated the results prior to creating an improvement plan for each one. These six locations and their final 6-year energy reduction numbers are as follows in order of highest reduction in energy use to lowest: Telluride, 55%; Grand Junction Horizon Drive, 44%; Snowmass Village, 39%; Grand Junction Mesa Mall, 37%; Clifton, 30%; Central Operations in Rifle, 13%. One of these locations received high efficiency hot water boilers while the remaining locations received tune ups, de-stratification fans in the high ceilings where hot air was trapped, and improved management of controls. In 2012 we concentrated on two locations that had very specific issues. South Rifle is one of our newer, LEED certified buildings and was built with energy savings and sustainability as integral parts of its design and construction. While this location was completed in late 2007, we don't have a full 6-year result as of yet. However, while following up in 2012 on disappointing natural gas consumption, we discovered a design issue in the digital control system for the high efficiency heating system. In effect, it was not designed to operate as intended given the parameters of the design and installation of the system. Once the digital control system was replaced with the appropriate design, heating began to perform at a significantly higher level. www.alpinebank.com 6
