Strategic Planning Process
In December 2012, CarrSports Consulting, LLC (CarrSports) was retained to guide the Athletics Department through a comprehensive strategic planning process. This activity engaged select VCU administrators and external constituents, along with Athletics staff,
coaches and student-athletes. Additionally, CarrSports examined University, Athletics and NCAA materials, along with documents
from selected Division I conferences and institutions.
Athletics' strategic plan development followed a sequential structure beginning with a revised set of Core Values, as well as
new Mission and Vision Statements. This process also included establishing a baseline set of assumptions and situation analysis
(SWOT).
