DAVID GREENWOOD
FOOTBALL • 1979-82 // MEN'S TRACK & FIELD • 1980-82
Greenwood was a tremendous athlete at Wisconsin, playing football and competing
in track and field. On the gridiron, Greenwood was a first-team All-Big Ten selection
in 1981 and 1982 and paced the Badgers in interceptions three years in a row. He also
punted for UW, setting a school record for career punts. Greenwood also was the 1982
Big Ten outdoor champion in the high jump, soaring 7 feet, 1 inch. After his career at
UW, he played three years in the USFL and was named All-USFL in 1983 and 1985, and
went on to play in the NFL from 1986-1990. Now a PGA golf professional, Greenwood
was ranked as the 27th-best athlete in Wisconsin history by Sports Illustrated.
