events titles, the Badgers
will look to returning NCAA
qualifier Deanna Latham
and Ellenwood to carry on
the tradition.
A native of Langley, British Columbia, Ellenwood
won 11 gold medals in the
British Columbia high school
championships. During her

prep career, she won four heptathlon titles, three long jump crowns,
two 100 hurdles events and the high
jump and 100 dash once each.
At the 2013 British Columbia
championships, Ellenwood set a provincial record in the heptathlon with
a score of 5,296.
She also won gold in the long jump
by soaring 19 feet, 5 3/4 inches, and
in the 100 meters (12.29). She snared
a silver medal in the high jump with
a leap of 5-5.
Competing against a field of college
athletes in April, Ellenwood finished
fourth in the California Invitational
section of the heptathlon at the Mt.
SAC Relays with 5,288 points.
Ellenwood is no stranger to international competition, as she finished
18th in the heptathlon at the 2012
IAAF World Junior Championships
in Barcelona. She also attained a
12th-place showing at the 2011 IAAF
World Youth Championships in Lille,
France.
The Canadian and British Columbia youth heptathlon record-holder,
Ellenwood was also the 2012 Canadian youth long jump champion.
Ellenwood and Latham look to
continue the Badgers' unprecedented streak of sweeping the Big Ten
combined events crowns (indoor
pentathlon and outdoor heptathlon)
in each of the last four years.
Before arriving at Wisconsin in
August, Ellenwood will focus on
qualifying for the Canadian junior
championships in Montreal in July
and the Pan American Junior Games
in Columbia.
