the season for the Wisconsin rowers is starting to

and women's openweight

Eastern Sprints on Sunday

The openweight women
race in the 2013 Big Ten
Rowing Championships on
Sunday in Indianapolis and
hope to earn a spot in the
NCAA championships later
in May.
For the men, the season
has been tough, as the varsity eight
has not placed first in any of its races so far this season. However, head
coach Chris Clark is undeterred since
the boat is only returning two oarsmen from last year and has been
making significant strides.
With added practice time on on
Lake Mendota, and if the Badgers
can play to their advantages of being
light and strong, Wisconsin should
be poised to make a run for a podium finish at the Eastern Sprints this
weekend.
The openweight women head into
the Big Ten championships after
coming in third the past two seasons
and winning the crown in 2010.
As the No. 14-ranked team in the
nation, Wisconsin's performance at
the conference regatta could impact
its NCAA championship fate. Luckily, the rowers' motivation and drive
have never been higher and head
coach Bebe Bryans has confidence in
her team and anticipates great things
from them in Indianapolis.
