Ramona Reed, MD, Lecture
and Lunch

Medical alumna Ramona Reed, MD '68,
her husband, Larry Reed, and the Medical
Alumni Association proudly presented the
2012 Reed Lecture and Lunch in November.
The annual event was open to all medical
students and featured lunch and a talk from
Dr. Reed on preventative medicine and the
Reed Psychiatric Care Fund for UVA medical
students. More than 75 students attended.
Med School Talent Show
December 7, 2012
The talent show has become a fun School of Medicine tradition, and the
2012 event did not disappoint. Hosted by Sierra Seaman and Naveen
Nandanan, the show included music, dancing, poetry and more.
MedConnect Anchor Event
November 9, 2012
MedConnect is the Medical Alumni Association's
multi-faceted program that connects current
medical students with alumni and local physicians
for mentoring and networking opportunities. The
bi-annual anchor events feature a panel Q & A with
medical alumni and breakout discussions according
to specialty and a reception. The Fall 2012 event
featured alumni physicians from the fields of
neurosurgery (Morris McCrary III, MD '81), family
medicine (Karen Poehailos, MD '89), orthopedic
surgery (John Prahinski, MD '92), obstetrics/
gynecology and infertility (Laura Smith, MD '03),
and integrative medicine (Dr. Martin Albert and Dr.
Peggy Wright).
