With 10 letterwinners returning for 2019, Arizona State is poised to make another run at the postseason. • ASU loses key contributors in Kianna Ibis, the team's leading scorer last season, and Courtney Ekmark, the team's top three-point threat. But senior starters Robbi Ryan and Reili Richardson look to take the lead this season. • Ryan is a tough defender and usually called upon to cover the opponents' biggest threat. Her defensive prowess helped ASU lead the Conference in scoring defense, limiting teams to just 58.2 ppg. Defense is ASU's signature and the Sun Devils are used to being at or near the top of the defensive categories. • Fifth in the Pac-12 in assists per game (5.0), Richardson is one of the top ball handlers in the league, lead- ing the Pac-12 and ranking fourth in the country in assist-to-turnover ratio (3.64). • With three starters gone, seniors Jamie Ruden and Kiara Russell, and sophomores Iris Mbulito and Taya Hanson look to step in and vie for a spot after each contributed significant minutes off the bench. • The Sun Devils have four newcomers joining the mix that will challenge for spots. Among them is graduate transfer Ja'Tavia Tapley who was a full-time starter at USC. Tapley contributed in mutliple ways on the court but also contributes experience playing in the highly-competitive Pac-12. • The Sun Devils also add top-50 recruit Eboni Walker, an athletic wing who was named Nevada Gatorade Player of the Year.
