After UMD sweep, Badgers face Mavericks

isconsin's path to its
first Broadmoor Trophy since 1998 has a definite
Minnesota flavor.
After sweeping past Minnesota Duluth last weekend, eighth-ranked Minnesota State is the opponent
for Thursday afternoon's
quarterfinal matchup at the
WCHA Final Five. Should
the Badgers get by the Mavericks, top-seeded and seventh-ranked St. Cloud State
awaits in the semifinals.
The other side of the
bracket includes secondseeded Minnesota, thirdseeded North Dakota and
sixth-seeded Colorado College. The entire tournament
airs live on Fox Sports North.

» Ever since Wisconsin's tie
at Denver on Nov. 30, it
has been pushing to climb
the WCHA standings towards an NCAA tournament berth. With one
week remaining, the Badgers still control their own
NCAA destiny.
The WCHA Final Five
winner gets an automatic
invitation to the NCAA
tournament. From USCHO.com Pairwise Rankings, which mimic the
selection process used by
the NCAA to fill the 16team tournament field, it
appears Wisconsin will
need to win its first two
games and then get help
