With 21 games done and five this weekend, the Badgers are nearing the beginning of the Big Ten season. UW has itself in a position to make a splash nationally, and to do that, it must seize the opportunity this weekend's trip to Louisville, Ky., 56 ┬╗ VARSITY MAR CH 14, 2013 provides. For the first time this season, the Badgers received votes in this week's ESPN. com/USA Softball Collegiate Top 25. Their eight votes put them at No. 29 on the list. UW's performance thus far has made people take notice, but now the team must take the next step. 6 p.m. 2 p.m. 1 p.m. UW opens the Louisville Classic with a game against No. 24 North Carolina and closes the tournament against No. 11 Louisville. Wins over ranked opponents will only strengthen the Badgers' legitimacy, an opportunity that is not lost on head coach Yvette Healy. "We are going to face some really tough opponents," said Healy. "Louisville is going to be excellent on their home field, being nationally ranked, North Carolina, too. Every team we see is going to really be a challenge for us." For the Badgers to be successful, the team will have to come together and put together a complete game; offensively, defensively and in the circle. When they do that, they can be unstoppable. Big Ten awards ┬╗Meghan McIntosh and Michelle Mueller have added their name to a growing list of Wisconsin Big Ten weekly award winners. The Badgers have had five different players win weekly awards this season, the most in school history.
