We���ve basically got a joint leadership.��� Even without their top singles player, the Hawkeyes cruised to a 7-0 victory over Western Illinois, posting 6-0, 6-0 scores in every set played by all six UI competitors. ���Ruth���s been on a successful team,��� Dougherty said. ���She has seen success, and she���s helping bring it to some of our athletes that haven���t seen it yet.��� Seaborne did participate in the first match of the doubleheader against Drake, where she and McCulloch defeated Klavdija Rebol and Jordan Eggleston, 8-3. She then won her singles match over Rebol, 6-1, 6-2. In a sport that has a season that lasts more than three months and features matches that can last longer than three hours, maintaining health and endurance is a priority. Seaborne sat out the latter match of the Hawkeyes doubleheader Feb. 16 against Western Illinois. ���We have a great fitness trainer and our coaches are awesome,��� Seaborne said. ���We put in a lot of work in the fall with fitness and practice, so we���re prepared for (the long season).��� 58 Regardless of her recent success, Seaborne stresses that she must keep improving over the course of the season if she wants to keep winning. ���I would like to be more aggressive, take more opportunities when I can,��� she said. ���But I���ve got to be smart with final decisions and points, and realize that my stuff is good enough.���
