othing is guaranteed
in the postseason, but
one thing is known without
a doubt as the Wisconsin
womens hockey team begins
its trek for a seventh Frozen
Four appearance; the team
that will take to the ice Friday night is vastly improved
from the one that started the
season in late September.

WCHA teams have the
toughest conference schedules in the nation, and while
that has shown in a nine-loss
record for the Badgers, it has
also helped them tremendously.
By late in the season, most
teams are usually playing
better, and that showed in
the close games Wisconsin

had over the last two weeks with Minnesota Duluth and Bemidji State.
Even though UMD and BSU were
stronger than when the Badgers went
winless against them in October, the
much-improved Badgers swept both
teams to finish the regular season
with six straight wins.
The harsh WCHA schedule has
forged the Badgers into one of the
most improved teams in the conference.
That improvement is not just evident in the teams record. The team
is more energized and more confident than ever before.
The Badgers have been concentrating on fine-tuning the small details in their play, and the rigors of 32
games has every player skating with
the poise of seasoned veterans.
That extra energy and renewed
confidence will serve the Badgers
well as the postseason begins, a time
in which every team has a new beginning. Favorably for the Badgers, its
starting when theyre playing their
best hockey of the year.
