The BU Track & Tennis Center is one of the best indoor facilities in the
Northeast. It boasts one of the fastest tracks in the region, and it hosts
many major competitions, including the ECAC and IC4A Championships.
BU athletes have fared well at every level of competition, with top-10 finishes at the NCAA Championships
and America East Championships in recent years. The Terriers boasted a pair of two-time All-America
selections and had nine athletes qualify for either the NCAA Championships or NCAA East Preliminaries in
2012. At the conference level, the women's squad won its 12th America East title during the indoor season,
while the men's team finished second at that event and has had the Most Outstanding Track Performer at the
last three conference meets. At the 2012 America East Outdoor Championships, R.J. Page (above left) was
named Most Outstanding Track Performer and garnered the Coaches' Award for the second straight season. He
broke his own conference record in the 100m dash and collected more points than any other male competitor.
Allison Barwise (above right) won the Coaches' Award at the 2012 America East Indoor Championships after
accumulating more points than any other female competitor. She broke her own conference record in the high
jump and placed second in the pentathlon.
Both the men's and women's track & field teams have been extremely
successful in the classroom, with four different Terriers making the
America East All-Academic Team in 2012. In addition, 52 student-athletes
from both teams were on the America East Academic Honor Roll, with 25
earning a grade-point average of 3.5 or better. Above: R.J. Page accepts
the E. Ray Speare Award, which honors BU's top male scholar-athlete.
With over 70 years of coaching experience between them, director
Robyne Johnson and her staff have developed a tradition of excellence
at Boston University that continued in full earnest last season. At the
2012 America East Indoor Championships, Johnson and her staff earned
their sixth Coaching Staff of the Year award. Assistant coach Gabe
Sanders was named the 2012 USTFCCCA Northeast Region Men's Indoor
Assistant Coach of the Year after his sprinters claimed five America
East titles. Also in 2012, assistant coach Mike Delgado coached Allison
Barwise to a pair of All-America selections and qualification for the U.S.
Olympic Trials. That same year, under the guidance of assistant director
Bruce Lehane, Rich Peters became the first Terrier male to earn AllAmerica accolades in the same calendar year since 1986.
Tahari James competed at the 2008 NCAA
Outdoor Championships, where she placed
ninth to earn All-America status and
qualify for the U.S. Olympic Trials.
