A LETTER FROM: and their three children in your thoughts. Although Paul has left us, we will not forget him. Inside this edition of The Ram Report, we pay tribute to his legacy and the 18 wonderful years he spent shaping the futures of VCU student-athletes. ED McLAUGHLIN D I R E C T O R O F AT H L E T I C S Greetings Rams fans, I hope you and your family enjoyed a wonderful holiday season. In the McLaughlin household, we loved our first December in the city of Richmond and took part in the holiday festivities in a variety of ways. This time of year excites many members of the VCU family. The Rams mens and womens basketball seasons are in full swing and fans are regularly packing the Verizon Wireless Arena at the Stuart C. Siegel Center to revel in the gameday experience. Though I heard stories of the electric gameday atmosphere and VCU fans unending support of the Rams, they could not prepare me for witnessing the best home-court advantage in college basketball. I can only imagine the excitement that our first Atlantic 10 season will bring, and I look forward to every minute. PROUD TO SUPPORT THE VCU RAMS JOHN D. PHIPPS Senior Vice President / Investments www.johndphipps.com During the holiday season, we want to take a step back and give thanks for the people that have touched our lives. Earlier this year, the VCU family lost one of our own, longtime baseball coach Paul Keyes. Here on Broad Street, we miss Keydog every day. I have seen Pauls wife, Trisha, at a few home games this winter, and I hope that you keep her At VCU Athletics, we also want to thank our loyal supporters whose investment in our program allows our student-athletes to compete for championships, serve in the community and excel in the classroom. Our Rams achieved a cumulative grade point average of 3.02 for the Fall Semester 2012, the highest in history. Our donor support makes that success possible. Inside, you will see a list of the names of all of our Ram Athletic Fund members. We tip our cap to the people that have made it possible to provide the best student-athlete experience at VCU. You are appreciated, and we could not do it without you. This edition of The Ram Report contains so many wonderful stories, from outstanding student-athletes to diligent coaches to former VCU stars succeeding in the game of life. We hope you enjoy every page and know that at VCU, there are plenty of reasons to be thankful. Go Rams! Regards, Ed McLaughlin Director of Athletics VCU8w5h:Layout 1 1/17/13 12:16 PM Page 1 ALLAN H.
