this is bu swimming & diving COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE When not in the classroom or in the pool, the Terriers devote much of their time to being active in the community. Besides hosting an annual Special Olympics aquatics competition with over 500 participants, they also volunteer at the American Cancer Society's "Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk" and in the BU Athletic Department's holiday reading program. Senior Tina Hoppe serves as the 2012-13 president of BU's Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) after serving as the president of the America East SAAC last season. BU prides itself in developing well-rounded student-athletes who apply themselves in the classroom. Last year, the BU men's and women's swimming and diving teams boasted the highest GPAs among all other America East swimming and diving programs. The Terrier women boasted a 3.24 team GPA while the BU men posted a 3.02 team GPA. Thirty members of the swimming and diving team were named to the Winter/Spring 2012 America East Academic Honor Roll with 13 Terriers earning a place on the Commissioner's Honor Roll for earning a GPA of 3.5 or higher. ► TEAM SPIRIT CHAMPIONSHIP SUCCESS Over the past seven seasons, the Terriers have captured 69 titles at the America East Championships. Last season, BU swept the conference championships for the first time since 1994 with the men earning their fourth conference title (1991, 1994, 2002, 2012) and the women earning their seventh conference crown (1991, 1992, 1994, 1995, 2009, 2010, 2012). BU has also sent a total of six competitors to the NCAA Championships since 2008. Last season, Melina Matyas (left) earned her third consecutive Diver of the Meet honor while Connor Stuewe (right) was named Men's Rookie of the Meet at the conference championships. Promoting an atmosphere of togetherness is what the program strives for with current, past and future Terriers all working together in accomplishing one goal as a closely knit group. At each of BU's meets, fans will see the swimmers and divers cheering on their teammates to succeed. COACH SMYTH'S COACHING PHILOSOPHY 2012-13 ROSTER LATEST NEWS SCHEDULE/RESULTS
