A junior right-hander, Cassandra Darrah earned Big Ten Pitcher of the Week honors after leading the

of victories over Notre Dame. In the Badgers final game of the First Pitch Classic in Charlotte, N.C., Darrah
pitched a career-high 11 innings and struck out 10 as UW came from behind to defeat the Irish, 6-5. The
Corydon, Iowa, native allowed just two earned runs in 23 innings of work over the weekend.
What do you love about Wisconsin?
The biggest thing I love about Wisconsin is tradition. There are so many sports that are really good and have
great legacies and we are here trying to create our own. Madison is beautiful, the school is awesome and the
people are great.
When you are in the circle, what is going through your head?
Coach (Yvette) Healy just asked me that. I try not to really think about anything and when I get the call,
I just think of certain little cues for each pitch that I need to remember nothing negative. It is always
positive, just thinking about getting it done.
You pitched a career-high 11 innings against the Irish. How did you feel out there?
I was tired, but I kept telling myself one more pitch, one more pitch. Get this one done and move on. A lot
of it was adrenaline because the game was crazy. As soon as it was over, I was done. I was exhausted. I felt
really good and having the team behind me was awesome.
What are your hopes for this season?
What else can I say? We want to get really far. We want to make it to the NCAAs and then hopefully the
(Womens College) World Series. Well see where it takes us.
