Furman Women's Tennis 2012-13 Kelly Sullivan Freshman Year (2011-12): Sullivan posted a 1-1 singles record and 10-3 doubles mark, including a 7-3 league doubles record, as a freshman for the Paladins. She posted a 6-0, 7-6(4) win over Western Carolina at number three singles. In doubles competition, Sullivan teamed with Margaret Boyette to record an 8-1 record playing primarily in the number two position. The duo defeated Boston University, 8-2, then notched wins over East Carolina, Georgia Southern, and Appalachian State in the first half of the season. Sullivan and Boyette combined for a 9-7 victory versus College of Charleston at number three on April 11then bested Western Carolina, 8-4, in the top doubles spot two days later. Wins over Davidson and Appalachian State gave the duo a 4-0 record to conclude the season. Sullivan was named to the Southern Conference Academic Honor Roll. The Team Sophomore • 5-6 Tampa, Fla. • Tampa Catholic district runner-up and competed in the state meet. Sullivan was honored with the Presidential Service Award, given to students with over 100 service hours per year, and was a member of seven academic honor societies, including the National Honor Society. Kelly Sullivan was born on June 29, 1992, in Tampa, Fla., to Heather and Jim Sullivan. Her sister, Meghan, is a member of the tennis team and cross country team at Fairfield University and was honored as the Female Freshman Athlete of the Year in 2010. Her mother and her uncle, Patrick Brown, played tennis at William & Mary, and her aunts and uncles, Kelly Brown, Tim Brown, and Sean Brown, all played tennis at Fordham. She intends to study business and accounting. Prep/Personal: Kelly Sullivan played under coach Steve Adler at Tampa Catholic, where as team captain she was a three-time team MVP and was a member of the all-county first team threeconsecutive seasons. She was a finalist in the state individual singles tournament and a semi-finalist in the state doubles tournament. Sullivan was undefeated for two seasons and won district and regional championships in both singles and doubles.
