hree weeks have passed
since the Badgers last
competed. It's as if the men's
hockey program is preparing for a bowl game. And the
Badgers will travel like they
are headed to one, making
the long trek northwest to
Anchorage, Alaska.
When UW last played,
the Badgers posted a home

sweep over Alabama Huntsville to extend what is now
a season-long six-game unbeaten streak. The streak
coincides with improved offensive performance.
After scoring three goals
just once over the first 11
games of the season, UW has
posted at least three goals in
four of its last five contests.
»Sophomore defenseman Jake McCabe is beginning the new year in
Ufa, Russia, as captain of the U.S.
National Junior Team at the 2013
International Ice Hockey Federation World Junior Championship.
McCabe was named team captain
before the tournament started, becoming the third Badger in four
years to be named captain. Current
UW senior John Ramage (bronze)
and former Badger Derek Stepan
(gold) won medals in that role.
Stonewalling
»Wisconsin has shown a stout defense and Oregon, Wis., goaltender Landon Peterson has led the
way. Allowing one goal or less in
his last four appearances has Peterson leading the WCHA in league
games with a 1.67 goals-against
average and .947 save percentage.
