just how tough the league is
going to be this season.
Wisconsin dropped its conference opener at No. 25 Nebraska, one of three Big Ten
teams ranked in the top 25
of the Associated Press poll.

votes, with Ohio State, Michigan, Michigan State and
Iowa ranking among the nation's top 40 teams.
UW won five Big Ten
games last year, a feat the
Badgers are looking to best.
» Senior Taylor Wurtz has elected to
take a medical redshirt for the remainder of the 2012-13 season due
to a re-occurring back problem.
The 6-foot-0 guard played in the
first five games of the season, averaging 12 points and seven rebounds
per game. She earned third-team
All-Big Ten honors last season,
leading the Badgers with 16.1 points
and 7.6 rebounds per game. Wurtz
has played in 97 games in her career, starting 65. She has averaged
10.3 points and 5.8 rebounds in her
years at UW.

» Junior Cassie Rochel shares the Big
Ten lead and ranks 15th nationally
with an impressive 2.7 blocks per
game. The 6-4 post has recorded
a career-high five blocks in three
games this season.
